Diamonds: The History of a Cold-Blooded Love Affair

Diamonds, the most beautiful and coveted gem on Earth, has a extensive, unknown history as these objects of desire. Diamonds have dominated the trade economy. As this commodity is becoming more and more difficult to find, the prices are sky rocketing. This doesn't necesarrily mean that the supply is low, but refers to how diffucult they are to find these days.
"The diamond trade unpackages and sells this light. No doubt that are a bit corrupted by it. A mound of clean rough in an intoxicating heap: It throbs with potential light. If you plunge in your hands the stones feel like silk; they slide through your fingers with a hiss. They come from the hammer stroke of creation. The diamond cutter must interrogate the visible record of a diamond's past, then put the diamond to the wheel. Somewhere now the big stone that the garimperos suctioned from the pipe on a hot May morning had been transformed into a tango of pink light. Or else it shattered into dust. That's the great adventure."- Matthew Hart
